The Reserve Bank of India announced that currencies before 2005 are going to be of no value soon , and so it is starting its withdrawal process from 31 March 2014. This is to suck out the black money.
The currencies before 2005 can be found by looking at the middle-bottom of the note.
The year of issue will be found in notes issued after 2005, if a note does not have it's year of issue then it is currency issued before 2005.
