A latest report in Silicon Angle says that Microsoft is working hard to woo none other than Sundar Pichai to lead the company. Silicon Angle says that that the talks are in an advanced stage. A top Silicon Valley analyst says, “Microsoft could really move the ball down the field with Sundar Pichai in creating a new open operating system model for cloud, mobile, and social…The market has been looking for a CEO who can balance the role of leading the enterprise transformation while keeping that consumer momentum with xBox [sic] and reboot mobile. Pichai is the total package of technology leadership and business acumen.” He is one of the top paid executive in Google and company has gone to every length to keep him away from ‘poachers’. To keep him away from Twitter he was paid around $50 million by search giant.

There is no doubt that 46-year old Nadella will have to prove him if he is selected for the top job in Microsoft. For the last 22 years he is associated with the same company and has overseen some major areas of the company including Bing search and cloud computing business. Born in Indian city of Hyderabad, he came from a top family as his father was a member of India’s national Planning Commission. He was schooled in local Hyderabad Public School and then joined Manipal Institute of Technology. So whoever of the two takes over Microsoft, it will be an Indian after all.
